Delayed payment of pension and pensionary benefits results in payment of interest on the amount paid belatedly after six months from the date of retirement of the pensioner — The chunk discusses a court order directing respondents to pay interest on delayed pension benefits along with costs, following a case where pension payments were delayed from 1977 to March 2010. Thi... — Facts: In the present case, there was delay in payment of pension for the period from 1997 to March, 2010. The Applicant, while on deputation as Driver-cum-Operator to National Savings Organization from the Central Intelligence Bureau at Indore retired on 1-2-2003 under Special Voluntary Retirement Scheme notified by DoP&T on 28-2-2002. The absorption in NSC took abnormal time which delayed his pension payment due to departmental and his own failures. As the pensionary benefits was delayed as noted above, he filed this OA for payment of interest on delayed final settlement dues @ 16% per annum and other consequential benefits. In this case, it is not necessary to go into the reasons for delayed final settlement dues as it is an individual case which may not be applicable in other case. Hence this brief is limited only to the final order of the Tribunal.
