Applicant herein, a Chief Health Inspector (Grade II), requested for voluntary retirement due to his health condition which was accepted. On such retirement except in the case of normal retirement on superannuation, the retirement benefits have to be paid within six months from the date of relief. As the retirement benefits in this case was delayed from his date of retirement with effect from 1-10-2012 and DCRG was paid to him only on 15-12-2014, the Applicant was declared for entitlement of interest at the rate of 8% per annum for delayed payment of DCRG beyond the period of six months from the date of retirement till the date of actual payment — This chunk is a section from an order (O.A. The is... — Facts: The Applicant herein, a Chief Health Inspector (Grade II) in Medical Department of Railways posted at Shalimar, represented on 5-7-2012 to retire him with effect from 1-10-2012 which was accepted. As it is a retirement on voluntary basis, he is entitled to get all final settlement dues within six months of his relief from service. But no settlement was done within that stipulated period. His representation did not him any relief as per rule in time. He was paid an amount of ₹ 8,23,588 on 15-2-2014 through SBI. He got his DCRG amount very belatedly after his date of retirement. Hence, he filed this OA for interest on that delayed DCRG amount. The Respondents tried to explain the delay in payment of DCRG, but the reply on that account was not found to be satisfactory.
