Delay of about 11 years after the death of the father of the Applicant and the financial position of the Applicant is a prerequisite for consideration for compassionate appointment. Hence this case does merit consideration for appointment, as the wife of the Applicant is a Teacher and three acres of cardamom cultivation possessed by the family defeats consideration of the case of the Applicant for compassionate ground appointment — Oral Argument (OA) No. 180/00942 of 2014: Compassionate Appointment Request Denied for Applicant, who is son of an ex-serviceman and former Postal Department employee who died in service in 1997. The... — Facts: The father of the Applicant, an ex-serviceman, joined Postal Department in 1973 as he was relieved from the Indian Army due to loss of one of his legs and died on 12-6-1997 leaving behind his wife and a son while he was in Postal service. The family consists of widowed mother and the Applicant with his wife and two minor children. The Applicant states that, he was not offered compassionate appointment by the Postal Department in spite of his repeated requests. Hence he filed this OA for grant of compassionate ground appointment due to the death of his father while in Postal service. The Applicant states that his repeated request for compassionate ground appointment was denied for which the department states that the Applicant's case was rejected due to delay in asking for the appointment and his safe financial position.
