They were placed in Pay Band 1 of ₹ 5,200- 20,200 with Grade Pay of ₹ 2,400. The Applicants sought a direction to the Respondents to implement the pay scale of ₹ 9,300-34,800 with Grade Pay of ₹ 4,200 to the post of Storekeeper with effect from 1-1-2006 with difference of wages with retrospective effect. The Applicants contended that they are performing the same duties of Storekeeper as like other sister institutes namely AIIMS, PGIMER etc.and ought to have been placed in Pay Band 2 of ₹ 9,300-34,800 with Grade Pay of ₹ 4,200 as like other institutes, whereas the Respondents have not implemented the same even though there were specific recommendations in the General Body Meeting, Pay Commission Report, Cadre Restructuring Committee, etc. The Applicants made several representations but no action was taken. Aggrieved, the Applicants filed the present Original Application before the Tribunal seeking the above relief.
