#### 1. Question

A vessel A mixture , petrol and kerosene oil are in the ratio of 7:5 and in vessel B it is in the ratio of 8:5. P liter of mixture from vessel A and Q liter of mixture from vessel B are taken out and poured into vessel C. if vessel C contains total 300 liter mixture with 40% kerosene oil, then find the value of Q/P ?

Answer: (a) 13/12

Explanation:

For vessel A-

Petrol taken out=7P/12 liters

Kerosene oil taken out=5P/12 liters

For vessel B-

Petrol taken out=8Q/13 liters

Kerosene oil taken out=5Q/13 liters

In vessel C-

Kerosene oil

5P/12 +5Q/13=300*2/5

On solving we get

13P+12Q=3744 —àequation(1)

Petrol in vessel C

7P/12+8Q/13=300*3/5

91P+96Q=28080—àequation(2)

From 1 and 2 we get Q=156, P=144

Q/P=156/144

Answer: (a) 13/12

Explanation:

For vessel A-

Petrol taken out=7P/12 liters

Kerosene oil taken out=5P/12 liters

For vessel B-

Petrol taken out=8Q/13 liters

Kerosene oil taken out=5Q/13 liters

In vessel C-

Kerosene oil

5P/12 +5Q/13=300*2/5

On solving we get

13P+12Q=3744 —àequation(1)

Petrol in vessel C

7P/12+8Q/13=300*3/5

91P+96Q=28080—àequation(2)

From 1 and 2 we get Q=156, P=144

Q/P=156/144

If difference between total milk and total water in container Q is 120 liters, then find difference between the quantity of initial mixture in a container Q and final mixture in P?

• a) 16liters

• b) 18liters

• c) 12liters

• d) 8liters

Answer: (a) 16 liters

Explanation:

Let initially milk and water in container Q is ‘3a’ liters and ‘a’ respectively

3a+8/972-a-1/972 =120

On solving e get a=32liters

Initial quantity in container Q=32*(3+1)=128 liters

Required difference=(216-72)-128=16liters

Answer: (a) 16 liters

Explanation:

Let initially milk and water in container Q is ‘3a’ liters and ‘a’ respectively

3a+8/972-a-1/972 =120

On solving e get a=32liters

Initial quantity in container Q=32*(3+1)=128 liters

Required difference=(216-72)-128=16liters
