• Question 1 of 5 1. Question In a cricket match, probability that X hits a century is 1/2 and probability that Y hits a century is 2/3. If both play in that particular match, the probability that at least one of them hits a century is- a) 1/2 b) 1/6 c) 2/3 d) 5/6 Correct Answer: D Explanation There can be three favourable cases: X hits a century and Y does not hit a century OR X does not hit a century and Y hits a century OR X hits a century and Y also hits a century. Probability that X hits a century = 1/2 Probability that X does not hit a century = 1 – 1/2 = 1/2 Probability that Y hits a century = 2/3 Probability that Y does not hit a century = 1 – 2/3 = 1/3 Hence, the required probability = (1/2) (1/3) + (1/2) (2/3) + (1/2) (2/3) = 1/6 + 2/6 + 2/6 = 5/6 Incorrect Answer: D Explanation There can be three favourable cases: X hits a century and Y does not hit a century OR X does not hit a century and Y hits a century OR X hits a century and Y also hits a century. Probability that X hits a century = 1/2 Probability that X does not hit a century = 1 – 1/2 = 1/2 Probability that Y hits a century = 2/3 Probability that Y does not hit a century = 1 – 2/3 = 1/3 Hence, the required probability = (1/2) (1/3) + (1/2) (2/3) + (1/2) (2/3) = 1/6 + 2/6 + 2/6 = 5/6

#### 1. Question

In a cricket match, probability that X hits a century is 1/2 and probability that Y hits a century is 2/3. If both play in that particular match, the probability that at least one of them hits a century is-

Explanation

There can be three favourable cases:

X hits a century and Y does not hit a century OR X does not hit a century and Y hits a century OR X hits

a century and Y also hits a century.

Probability that X hits a century = 1/2

Probability that X does not hit a century = 1 – 1/2 = 1/2

Probability that Y hits a century = 2/3

Probability that Y does not hit a century = 1 – 2/3 = 1/3

Hence, the required probability = (1/2) (1/3) + (1/2) (2/3) + (1/2) (2/3) = 1/6 + 2/6 + 2/6 = 5/6

• Question 2 of 5 2. Question In a circular field, Sonu is standing at the centre of field and Monu is walking clockwise along the circumference of the field. When Monu started walking, he was in the east direction with respect to Sonu. Monu covered 3/4 th of the circumference and stopped. Now Monu is in which direction with respect to Sonu? a) North b) South c) East d) West Correct Answer: A Explanation 3/4th of the circular filed = (3/4) × 360o = 270o Now, from the given diagram, 270o clockwise = 90o anticlockwise = North Hence, Monu is in north direction with respect to Sonu. Incorrect Answer: A Explanation 3/4th of the circular filed = (3/4) × 360o = 270o Now, from the given diagram, 270o clockwise = 90o anticlockwise = North Hence, Monu is in north direction with respect to Sonu.

#### 2. Question

In a circular field, Sonu is standing at the centre of field and Monu is walking clockwise along the circumference of the field. When Monu started walking, he was in the east direction with respect to Sonu. Monu covered 3/4 th of the circumference and stopped. Now Monu is in which direction with respect to Sonu?

Explanation

3/4th of the circular filed = (3/4) × 360o = 270o

Now, from the given diagram,

270o clockwise = 90o anticlockwise = North

Hence, Monu is in north direction with respect to Sonu.

Explanation

3/4th of the circular filed = (3/4) × 360o = 270o

Now, from the given diagram,

270o clockwise = 90o anticlockwise = North

Hence, Monu is in north direction with respect to Sonu.

Correct Answer: D Explanation A @ B means B is the grand-daughter of A. A & B means A is the son of B. A B means B is the father of A. Therefore, P & Q R @ S can be represented as From the family tree diagram, it is clear that R is the grandfather of P. Incorrect Answer: D Explanation A @ B means B is the grand-daughter of A. A & B means A is the son of B. A B means B is the father of A. Therefore, P & Q * R @ S can be represented as From the family tree diagram, it is clear that R is the grandfather of P.

#### 3. Question

Consider the following information that represents the meaning of symbols -@, & and *.

• A @ B means B is the grand-daughter of A.

• A & B means A is the son of B.

• A * B means B is the father of A.

• Question 4 of 5 4. Question What is the angular distance travelled by a minute hand between 2:10 and 2:30? a) 70° b) 120° c) 100° d) 60° Correct Answer: B Explanation There is a gap of 20 minutes in between 2 : 10 and 2 : 30. Minute hand covers 360° in 60 minutes. So, Angular distance covered in 1 minute = 360°/60 = 6° So, Angular distance covered in 20 minutes = 20 × 6° = 120° Incorrect Answer: B Explanation There is a gap of 20 minutes in between 2 : 10 and 2 : 30. Minute hand covers 360° in 60 minutes. So, Angular distance covered in 1 minute = 360°/60 = 6° So, Angular distance covered in 20 minutes = 20 × 6° = 120°

What is the sum of all the three co-prime numbers? a) 44 b) 38 c) 41 d) 34 Correct Answer: D Explanation 102 = 6 × 17 (co-primes) 187 = 11 × 17 (co-primes) Sum of all the three co-prime numbers = 6 + 11 + 17 = 34 Incorrect Answer: D Explanation 102 = 6 × 17 (co-primes) 187 = 11 × 17 (co-primes) Sum of all the three co-prime numbers = 6 + 11 + 17 = 34

#### 5. Question

Three numbers are co-prime to each other, such that the product of the smallest and the largest of these numbers is 102, and that of the largest and second largest numbers is 187. What is the sum of all the three co-prime numbers?

Explanation

102 = 6 × 17 (co-primes)

187 = 11 × 17 (co-primes)

Sum of all the three co-prime numbers = 6 + 11 + 17 = 34

Explanation

102 = 6 × 17 (co-primes)
