Noida International Airport Inauguration Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Phase I of the Noida International Airport at Jewar, describing it as a symbol of “India’s new spirit” and underlining its role in driving development in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing the crowd, Modi said, “Today, we are beginning a new chapter of the Viksit Uttar Pradesh, Viksit Bharat campaign.” He said the airport would act as a catalyst for growth by creating opportunities for youth and farmers, while also benefiting nearby regions such as Agra, Mathura and Ghaziabad. The first phase of the project has been developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 11,200 crore under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
*Energy push:* At the inauguration, Modi linked India’s ethanol-blending initiative as a safeguard for energy security amid global instability. He presented the project as part of a wider strategy focused on self-reliance and infrastructure-driven growth, while also describing the airport as a reflection of shared national ambition and collective ownership.
*Economic boost: *Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Jewar airport would serve as a “launchpad” for the state’s economic growth, boosting investment, trade and employment while giving Uttar Pradesh a stronger global identity. Addressing a gathering in the presence of PM Modi, he credited the Centre’s “visionary leadership” for expanding the state’s aviation sector and ensuring economic stability despite global challenges. CM Adityanath said the airport is part of a broader push to transform India into a developed nation, adding that it would soon expand from one runway to multiple, with plans to evolve into a major global aviation hub.
Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary termed the inauguration of the Noida International Airport a “historic moment”, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for positioning the state as a hub of development and global opportunity. The Rs 11,200-crore project, inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is expected to boost industry, trade, tourism and employment, particularly in western UP. Officials and leaders said the airport, along with ongoing infrastructure projects, would accelerate investment, create jobs locally and reduce migration, with the region emerging as a major economic hub. *(PTI)*
Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu said the inauguration of Noida International Airport will turn the region into a major hub for jobs, investment and economic growth, benefiting not just Uttar Pradesh but the entire country.
Speaking at the launch event alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Naidu called the airport a matter of national pride and described it as a new “heartbeat” for Delhi-NCR. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 11,200 crore, the first phase includes a 4-km runway capable of handling international flights.
He said the project is being developed as an “aerotropolis” with integrated cargo infrastructure and an upcoming MRO facility to boost employment and trade. Naidu added that the airport will generate opportunities across sectors and help transform Jewar into a key economic hub, crediting the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for enabling the project. *(PTI)*
As the war rages in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday stressed on how India’s ethanol blending initiative has helped the country amid the crisis affecting global energy markets. Speaking at the inauguration of the Noida International Airport at Jewar, Modi linked India’s ethanol blending programme to energy security amid the ongoing global turmoil while positioning the project as part of a broader push towards self-reliance and infrastructure-led growth. He also framed the airport as a symbol of collective ownership and national aspiration. Addressing a large gathering, Modi said, “You are all seeing how worried the whole world is today… In West Asia, there has been a war going on for a month. Pointing to disruptions in supplies of petrol, diesel, gas and coal, he added that India has relied on domestic resilience to navigate the crisis. *Read*
Industry leaders said the inauguration of the Noida International Airport at Jewar will act as a major catalyst for infrastructure growth and investment in the NCR, reshaping the region’s economic landscape. Experts noted it will boost demand across real estate segments, including commercial, residential, logistics and retail. CBRE’s Anshuman Magazine said the project could create a new real estate corridor and attract institutional investment, with developers already seeing rising interest from businesses and long-term stakeholders, along with demand for integrated townships and low-rise housing. Industry players added that improved connectivity and relative affordability compared to Noida and Gurugram are helping the region evolve into a self-sustaining urban hub, with the airport expected to drive coordinated growth across sectors.
Addressing the crowd, PM Modi also spoke about the significance of how ethanol blending in petrol has helped India reduce its import dependence on crude oil. PM Modi expressed gratitude towards sugarcane farmers for aiding the 20 per cent ethanol blending in petrol.
"The expansion of modern connectivity will give a boost to the potential of the food processing sector in Western UP, thereby facilitating access to global markets. I want to thank farmers, as the ethanol produced from your produce has helped reduce the country's dependence on crude oil. Had it not been for this blending with petrol, we would have had to import 4.5 crore barrels - that is, 700 crore litres - from abroad. The nation has benefited from the hard work of its farmers, while the farmers themselves have also reaped rewards. This money, which was saved, could otherwise have flowed out of the country," the Prime Minister said.
Accusing the Samajwadi Party of turning Noida into "an ATM for loot" PM Modi emphasised that under the BJP government, Uttar Pradesh is now becoming a "engine for development." In his address, PM Modi said, "Samajwadi Party made Noida an ATM for loot, but today, under the BJP government, UP is becoming the engine for development. This has been made possible through the double-engine approach." He also criticised the Congress and the Samajwadi Party for delaying the airport project, which had been stalled from 2004 to 2014, while crediting the BJP-NDA government for finally laying its foundation and bringing it to fruition.
The Noida International Airport will begin operations with an initial passenger handling capacity of 12 million per annum, which can be scaled up to 70 million in the future. It will also feature a cargo hub with an initial capacity of over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, expandable to around 18 lakh metric tonnes, positioning it as a major logistics and aviation hub.
The Noida International Airport will create opportunities for farmers, small traders and youth in western Uttar Pradesh. The Jewar project is expected to drive growth and improve connectivity, said PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is confronting the ongoing conflict in West Asia “with full strength”, while assuring that all necessary steps are being taken to safeguard Indian citizens. He highlighted the country’s dependence on crude oil and gas from the region, and said the government is working to ensure that the impact of the crisis does not place an additional burden on families and farmers.
While speaking at the inauguration of the Noida International Airport PM Modi said that this project will give new wings to the future of youngsters. "Today, we are starting a new chapter in the ‘Viksit UP, Viksit Bharat’ campaign. Uttar Pradesh has now become one of the states with the highest number of international airports in the country. I am especially happy that I had the privilege of laying the foundation stone of this airport and also inaugurating it, which I shared with all of you. The state that chose me as its representative will now be identified with this grand airport."
