Speaking during the ongoing Budget session, the Chief Minister said: “The full amount pertaining to various Haryana government departments, boards and corporations has been credited back by IDFC First Bank into the respective departmental accounts. He further shared that the swift recovery was made possible through coordinated efforts between the State government and senior bank officials.” Calling it a matter of public trust, Mr. Saini underscored that the funds represent the hard-earned money of 2.8 crore citizens of Haryana and would be utilised strictly for their welfare. Every single rupee belonging to the people will be safeguarded and spent only for their benefit, he said. #### High-level panel formed The Chief Minister said a high-level committee, headed by the Finance Secretary, has been constituted to examine the matter in detail and fix accountability of the employees and officers concerned. The committee will determine responsibility and recommend further action, if required. On Sunday, IDFC First Bank Limited revealed a ₹590 crore fraud allegedly committed by its employees and others in accounts held by the Haryana government. Meanwhile, outside the Assembly, Congress MLAs and leaders staged demonstrations against the Bharatiya Janata Party government. Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Congress State president Rao Narendra Singh were present at the protest. The Congress leaders held placards, raising issues including poor law and order situation, poor condition of sports stadiums and neglect of athletes, paddy procurement scam, irregularities in Below Poverty Line ration cards, neglect of farmers, unemployment and job crisis, among others. Chief Minister Saini took a dig at the Congress, saying, “While democracy guarantees every individual the right to protest and express views against the government, the Opposition’s decision to stage a demonstration at the main entrance of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha was not appropriate.” He said that the right to dissent is fundamental in a democracy, but it must be exercised in a manner that does not affect the decorum and functioning of the legislature.
